In the bottom of the twelfth inning, a Wilfredo Boscan wild pitch allowed Tulsa's Ben Paulsen to score from third base to give the Drillers a 4-3 win over Frisco.
For Tulsa, former Razorback All-American and SEC Pitcher of the Year Nick Schmidt allowed no runs on 2 hits while striking out 5 over 7 complete innings.
Schmidt was a former first round pick to San Diego in 2007 but a season-ending elbow injury that same year left him reeling ever since.
He was added to the Rockies as part of the Huston Street trade in December as the "player to be named at a later date."
The transaction could prove to be a long-term "steal" for the Rockies.
Since his arrival, the 27-year-old continues to produce quality starts for Tulsa. In Schmidt's last start at OneOK Field before tonight, May 13, Schmidt was one error away from perfection through the first six innings against the Travelers.
He still finished the day surrendering just 1 run over 8 complete innings while striking out 5.
Considering Schmidt's age and being left-handed may potentially accelerate his advancement through the organization if his consistent success continues.
