Oklahoma State couldn't rally from an early 6-0 deficit, falling to Kansas State 11-to-5 in an elimination game Thursday morning at the Big 12 Championships in Oklahoma City.
The Cowboys (32-25) fell behind in the first inning when Jared King lined a two-run triple to right-center. King would later score on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0.
The Wildcats added three more in the third, including a two-run single by Mike Kindel and a double by Ross Kivett that brought Kindel around to score.
OSU finally broke through for their first runs of the Big 12 tournament in the bottom of the frame when Hunter Bailey doubled to score Saulver Saxon and Wes Jones. Bailey trotted home when Robbie Rea followed with a single.
But, Kansas State put the game out of reach in the fourth, scoring four more runs -- all unearned -- following a two-out error by Bailey.
Oklahoma State would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't overcome the eight-run deficit. The Cowboys' season ends at 32-and-25.
Kansas State advances to play the loser of this afternoon's game between Oklahoma and top-seed Baylor.
