Arkansas scored three times in the top of the seventh to pull out a 3-2 victory over the Tulsa Drillers Thursday in the first game of an eight-game Tulsa homestand at ONEOK Field.
Tulsa took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Kent Matthes and Kiel Roling hit back-to-back home runs.
But, the Drillers had only four other hits in the game. Tulsa threatened in the fourth with runners at second and third with one out, but Travs starter John Hellweg got Roling to pop out, then induced a ground out by Tim Torres to get out of the inning.
In the seventh, Arkansas got an RBI ground out to cut the lead in half, then back-to-back two-out, RBI doubles from Rian Kiniry and Jean Segura put the Travelers on top.
That's all they'd need. Three Arkansas relievers combined to pitch three perfect innings to shut the door.
With the loss, Tulsa's lead in the Texas League North division has been cut to four games. The Drillers will continue their series with Arkansas Friday night at 7:05.
