Danny Manning Signs First Recruit

Posted: Updated:

New University of Tulsa head men's basketball coach Danny Manning has signed his first recruit, inking a Kansas City-area guard to a national letter of intent.

Shaquille Harrison, a 6'3" combo guard from Lee's Summit (Mo.) West High School, averaged 17.3 points, seven rebounds, four assists and 3.2 steals per game as a senior this year, leading his team to a 27-and-4 record and the Class 5 "Final Four".

"We're very excited to have Shaq become part of our Tulsa basketball program," Manning said. "We're very fortunate in a sense that he was still available at this late stage in the recruiting game because of how talented a player he is and the quality of young man that he is."

Harrison was first-team All-State as a senior and is a two-time All-District and All-Conference selection. He was also named the Suburban Mid-6 Conference Player of the Year and Kansas City Star's Metro Player of the Year as a senior.

Manning was hired as Tulsa's 29th men's basketball coach in April.
