A source has told the Associated Press that New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler has been named the NBA's Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Chandler's award, which has not yet been announced by the NBA but was expected to be Wednesday, would end the three-year reign of Orlando's Dwight Howard.
Many expected Oklahoma City's Serge Ibaka to be a shoo-in for the award as Ibaka was the NBA's runaway leader in blocked shots at 3.65 per game -- nearly 1.5 per game more than anyone else in the league.
Chandler averaged 1.4 blocks per game, which ranked 19th in the NBA.
