James Harden Cleared To Play

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma City Thunder got some good news Wednesday as guard James Harden has been cleared to play following Sunday's concussion suffered against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Harden suffered a severe blow to the head from an elbow by the Lakers' Metta World Peace -- a hit that Peace was ejected from the game and has since been suspended seven games for.

Harden did not play in Oklahoma City's 106-101 loss at home to Denver Wednesday night, a meaningless game in which the Thunder didn't need him. Thunder head coach Scott Brooks says Harden should be "fine for the playoffs", which begin this weekend.

Harden is a leading contender for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year. The second-year player from Arizona State is averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
