Tulsa Shock Pick Up Four In WNBA Draft

Posted: Updated:

Shock head coach Gary Kloppenburg is excited about his first draft class in Tulsa.  The Shock select Tennessee star Glory Johnson with the fourth overall pick in Monday's WNBA Draft.  Johnson is one of four Lady Vols to finish their college careers with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.  She averaged over 14 points and almost 10 rebounds a game for Tennessee last year.

"She's one of those players, she reminds me of Tamika Catchings coming out of college," Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg said. "She has a high octane motor. We know we have some work to do offensively to get her better but one thing we know is that she's a workaholic, she will be put the time in."

In the second round, the Shock take Riquna Williams at 17th overall.  Williams was an All-ACC first teamer from Miami.  She average 17.2 points a game for her career with the Hurricanes.

Tulsa had the picks in the third round.  They take Johnson's Tennessee teammate Vicki Baugh at 25.  Baugh returned from a severe knee injury her junior year to lead the Lady Vols in shooting percentage last season.

At the 29th pick, the Shock select 6'4" center Lynetta Kizer from Maryland.  She was the ACC 6th Player of the Year in 2012.

The Shock open the training camp on April 29th.  The tip-off the season May 19th against San Antonio.
