Tulsa scored five times in the bottom of the fourth inning and it was enough as the Drillers held on for a 5-3 win over the San Antonio Missions Saturday night at ONEOK Field.
The Drillers trailed 1-0 when Josh Rutledge led off the fourth with a double. After Michael Mitchell was hit by a pitch, Nolan Arenado and Ben Paulsen followed with doubles to plate three runs.
Lars Davis brought Paulsen home on a ground out and Kent Matthes came around to score on a throwing error by the catcher trying to catch Matthes stealing third.
The Missions scored runs in the sixth and eighth innings to make things interesting, but with two on and two out in the eighth, Edinson Rincon grounded into a force out to end the inning.
San Antonio went quietly in the ninth.
Parker Frazier picked up his first win of the season for Tulsa, allowing two runs on ten hits in six innings. Coty Woods pitched the ninth for the save, his second of the season.
Tulsa is now 6-and-3 and have won all three of their series to open the season. They'll look to make it four when they begin a three-game set against Corpus Christi Sunday afternoon at 2:05 at ONEOK Field.
