Nolan Arenado went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs as the Tulsa Drillers opened the 2012 season with a 7-2 win at San Antonio Thursday night.
The Drillers got things off to a good start when Josh Rutledge led off the game with a solo home run. Arenado, Angelys Nina and Edwar Cabrera also drove in runs in the top of the first for a quick 4-0 lead.
The onslaught continued into the second inning with the Drillers plating another run on three straight singles.
San Antonio got on the board in the bottom of the second on Nathan Freeman's leadoff homer and added a second run in the seventh on a Jedd Gyorko blast.
Arenado padded Tulsa's lead with a two-run double in the eighth.
Cabrera earned the victory for Tulsa, pitching six innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six.
The Drillers and Missions will continue their three-game series Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
