TULSA -- ORU junior pole vaulter Jack Whitt finished third at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month in Boise, Idaho.
He is also qualified for the U.S. Summer Olympic Trials later this year. ORU head coach Joe Dial knows a thing or two about competing at that level.
Dial was a 4-time NCAA champion at OSU during the 1980's and held the American record for close to nine years.
It was Dial's success that attracted Whitt, a graduate of Norman North High School, to choose ORU over big conference programs such as Oklahoma.
