QB Competition Begins In Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. The pressure is on quarterback Clint Chelf as Oklahoma State opens spring practice.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken says Chelf needs to show during the first two weeks of practice that his experience from being Brandon Weeden's backup for the past two seasons has put him ahead of J.W. Walsh and freshman Wes Lunt.

Chelf played only sparingly last season when Oklahoma State was easily ahead in a blowout. Monken says his extra time in the program and on the field should make him the front-runner to be the Cowboys' next starter.

Coach Mike Gundy says ideally he'll be able to name a starter by the end of spring practice.
