STILLWATER, Okla.—The 23rd-ranked Oklahoma State softball team came back after being down four runs to defeat Iowa 6-5 in eight innings in the home opener Friday evening. After Kelsey Anchors hit a bases-clearing triple to tie the game, Ari Morrison reached first on an error, stole second, and advanced two more bases on errors to score the winning run.

The Cowgirls (7-7) were losing 4-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Tarah Ettinger and Gessenia DeLaCruz hit back-to-back singles to lead it off. After Morrison sacrificed the runners over, Tamara Brown walked to load the bases. Julie Ward stepped up with a single to right field and scored two.

The Hawkeyes (8-7) just extended their lead in the top of the sixth with a solo home run by Brianna Luna to make the score 5-2. But in the bottom of the sixth, the Cowgirls went to work.

After a walk, two singles and two fielder's choice plays, the bases were loaded for Anchors who stepped up with a triple down the right line. Three runs scored and the game was tied 5-5.

The game continued until the bottom of the eighth when Morrison reached first base on an Iowa error. She stole second when a throwing error by the catcher allowed her to advance the third. Then a throwing error by the center fielder allowed her to score and win the game for Oklahoma State.

Ward finished the game going 2-for-3 with two RBIS. Freshman Gessenia DeLaCruz also finished the night going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Junior Kat Espinosa started in the circle for the Cowgirls and picked up the complete game win. She threw all eight innings, allowed seven hits for just three earned runs, struck out four, and didn't walk a single batter. She is 3-3.

Kayla Massey threw the complete game for the Hawkeyes and is now 4-4. She allowed nine hits for five earned runs, struck out five and walked six.

The Cowgirls will continue The Preview tomorrow in Oklahoma City where they will face LSU at 11 a.m. and Iowa again at 1:30 p.m
