Man Arrested for Alleged Child Abuse

Posted: Updated:

(KATV) On Monday, February 20, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a possible child abuse.

It was determined that a three month old child had been taken to the hospital and was suffering from a broken leg and cracked ribs.

Detectives followed up on the incident and subsequently arrested Christopher Williams, 30. He is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (D Felony) and Battery 1st Degree (Y Felony).

Williams was associated with the infant and it was not a case of a stranger harming the child.

Williams was apprehended without incident and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility.  This is an on-going investigation and more charges could be forthcoming.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or 315-TIPS.  Individuals also may send an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) with the keyword BNPD in the body of the text.
