A Sharp County man accused of chaining his 11-year-old daughter to a bed has been released from custody after posting a $1,000 bond.
Authorities say Michael Gilman is accused of false imprisonment and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor after officers found the girl chained to her bed by her ankle.
Detective Sgt. Ken Guidry told KAIT-TV that Gilman said the girl would get up at night, get into food and sometimes go to other people's homes. Guidry says Gilman told them he started chaining her to the bed at night to prevent her from getting into trouble, and would release her the next morning.
She and her siblings were taken into the custody of child welfare officials.
A telephone listing for Gilman couldn't be found on Tuesday.
