Arkansans help Honduran man who lost his arms

Little Rock -

A Honduran man who lost both of his arms in a train accident has a new limb and new hope for a better life.

On Saturday, Jesus Garcia was fitted with a prosthetic arm donated by Horton's Orthotics & Prosthetics in Little Rock.

Prosthetist Mike Horton says Garcia has lived a very limited life, not being able to brush his teeth, go to the bathroom or have a career.

His journey to Arkansas began when Sandee Haslauer with Christ the King Catholic Church learned about him and went to Honduras. She made arrangements for him to be seen by orthopedic surgeon Laura Hughes, who called Horton.

Horton says he's only being fitted with one arm because the area where the other arm was amputated would make another prosthesis too cumbersome.
