KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: Knife Show Draws Hundreds to Little Rock

Knife Show Draws Hundreds to Little Rock

Posted: Updated:

More than 100 tables of handcrafted blades are on display this weekend at the Custom Knife Show at the Robinson Center in downtown Little Rock. The show is attracting people from around the country and the world.

Arkansas is known for its knifemakers with 16 achieving the rank of master bladesmith.  That's more than any other state.  Some master bladesmiths will spend 100 hours just engraving the knife.

Jerry Fisk, Master Bladesmith, said "You cannot carry a Monet painting around with you and show people an art form, but a knife you can. It's much smaller and they are traditional art forms. It's accepted worldwide now as a traditional art form."

If you want to buy one of Jerry's knives be prepared to be patient and pay big bucks.  A custom order can take nine years and cost up to $60,000.  But it only costs five bucks to take a look at the knives at the show which will continue Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
