Six more bone marrow drives are planned to help find a match for a Little Rock mother who was diagnosed with leukemia just hours before giving birth. Doctors told Leslie Harris after her son was born that she would likely only have about six months to live if she doesn't have a bone marrow transplant. Her baby is now four months old and her family is praying a match will be found soon.
Several bone marrow drives have already taken place and hundreds have been swabbed to see if they are a match. Donors must be between the ages of 18 to 55, weigh more than 100 pounds, and be in general good health. The test to see if you are a potential match takes only 30 seconds and is a simple swab of the cheek. You can read more about the requirements to be a donor at the link next to this story.
Below is a list of the bone marrow drives planned for Harris. Those who are swabbed will have their information put in an international database to see if they are a match for Harris or someone else.
