The state Board of Education today approved a 30-day comment period for a proposed state rule to bar religious activities at state-funded preschools.
The rule proposed by the state Department of Human Services states that preschools receiving money from the Arkansas Better Chance program conduct no religious activities unless they occur outside of a seven-hour school day.
Some on the state board suggested the measure might be too strict while others suggested it might not be strict enough. No one voted against putting the proposal out for public comment.
