Student stabbed at school expected to recover

Magnolia -

School officials in Magnolia say a junior high school's metal detectors weren't in use this week when a student was stabbed by another student who brought a knife to school.

District spokesman Scott Nipper tells the Banner-News that the school's policy is to not use the metal detectors on a daily basis unless there's a suspected threat. Nipper says the detectors at Magnolia Junior High School hadn't been used all year.

Officials say a 13-year-old got into a fight with a 14-year-old Monday and the older student stabbed the younger one.

Nipper says the 13-year-old is in stable condition and is expected to recover
