(KATV) Pine Bluff's Assistant Police Chief Ivan Whitfield is suing the Chief of Police. He states that being put on administrative leave is "unwarranted and retaliatory."

Whitfield's gun was allegedly found in the vehicle of someone who is a person of interest in a murder case. (For more details, click on the link under the picture.)

Whitfield's attorney released a letter that accuses Chief of Police Brenda Davis-Jones of suspending his client because he had information that the Chief's boyfriend was driving drunk, but wouldn't tell her who called to report it.

Davis-Jones allegedly told Whitfield quote, "If you or anybody messes with my two boys or my man you are going down, and I mean that."

Assistant Chief Whitfield is a 29-year veteran of the department.

Whitfield and Detective Marty Harrison are on leave in two separate investigations of unaccounted for police issued guns.
