Sixteen.

That is how many complaints the Arkansas Attorney General's office has received over the past three years against Michael Todd Upton and his companies.

We visited with two of the unhappy customers Upton has left behind.

There is a crime watch sign in front of Shelli Cody's home.

Cody says the thief that visited her did not come in the middle of the night.

She says he came with a smile and a contract.

"He came through the neighborhood and put out plenty of signs…contacted us a couple of times about wanting to do the roof," recalls Cody.

"Why this neighborhood?  Had a storm hit or something?"

"Yes," says Cody.  "We had hail damage."

Cody said she signed a $3,000 dollar insurance check over to Upton…and hasn't seen him since.

"What I've seen is he comes…he like to take your checks and say your next on the list and then you never hear from him again," says Cody.

"He agreed to pay us $15,000 if we dropped everything," says James Hendrix about Upton.  "And he paid us $3,000."

James Hendricks hired Upton to do a major remodeling project on some of the buildings in his North Little Rock apartment complex.  Upton's crews did good work at first.  But when it came time to replace windows, Hendricks says Upton wanted more money and then failed to deliver or replace any windows at all.

"As far as a contractor…he's not very good," says Hendricks.  "Not as a person…no. Todd should have been stopped years ago."

Upton's business names have of late been Homepros, Inc. and HPI, LLC.

When we did a story on his questionable business way back in the year 2000…when he was simply Upton Construction.
