KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: Little Rock Church to Celebrate 100 Years

(KATV) Arkansas' largest United Methodist Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church was founded in 1912 with only about 50 members. Today it has 4,100 members and Senior Pastor Britt Skarda says the church continues to be very involved in the community.

Skarda says, "We reach out locally and globally. We have missions in Guatemala, Haiti and as close as Little Rock public schools in addition to a food pantry. We love the community. We love being a part of it. We love representing Christ to the broader community."

During a worship service Sunday morning, the church recognized member Marie Steele who is celebrating her 100th birthday this year. Sunday kicked off a series of anniversary events that will take place at the church.
