KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: More than 6,0000 Child Porn Images Discovered, 9-Million Dollar Bond Set

(KATV) Little Rock - A Pulaski County man accused of having thousands of images of child pornography on his home computer faces a felony charge per image.

Friday afternoon Pulaski County Sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at 49-year old Norman Jewett's home.

In 2010, the sheriff's office formed the Internet Crimes against Children Task force. The teams sole responsibility is to identify, track and arrest people who are using the Internet to view or share images, chat with minors or try to lure them into meeting.

It's as simple as a click of the mouse. The internet has dramatically changed how easy and cheap child porn is to produce, distribute and share among voyeurs and predators.

Friday, Norman Jewett became the latest suspect to possess sexually explicit images of children.

Lt. Carl Minden says Jewett has been under investigation since December, he is now behind bars. "He was cooperative with them and made statements and obviously those statements were in concurrence with what they already found."

Deputies seized Jewett's laptop through a search warrant and discovered more than 6,0000 videos and pictures of child pornography.

Lt. Minden explains, "Possession of child pornography, each one of those is an individual count for the possession. It equals out to about 9-million dollars for his bond."

It's almost safe to say that with a 9-million dollar bond, Jewett will be off-line for awhile.

The next step is to find out who the victim's are. Lt. Minden questions, "Are these pictures you just downloaded off the web or are they pictures that you took yourself? He concludes, "At this point it's early in the investigation to know that."

The details of how Jewett was caught are not available, but we know he was downloading and sharing files on a public site.
