
Jason HartcourtThe Saline County Sheriff's Office and Alexander Police Department held a press conference Friday afternoon in regards to the shooting that occurred at Lindsey Dr. and Violet Cove in Alexander on Monday January 30.
The shooting injured 2 people, Jason Harcourt, 32, of Little Rock and John Hayes, 51. Hayes lived near the location of the shooting. Joshua Green, 32, of Little Rock and Jamar "Little Baby" Williams, 25, of Little Rock were also involved in the incident, but were not injured.
Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington said Harcourt and Hayes started shooting at each other. He said Green saw the two and opened fire at Harcourt. Pennington said
Officers found methamphetamine and several hundred dollars near one of the victims. Some residents were concerned about their safety after the shooting.
"They were asking the chief, is it safe to stay here tonight?" said Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington. He continued, "The worried about that."
Saline County Constable Gordon Hall said the town is filled with drug houses and more needs to be done for residents' safety.
Hall said, "You can buy meth anywhere out here. You want to I mean you can just walk up to the house and buy it and it's really not safe for the kids out here."
Chief Horace Walters said the drug problems started before he became chief and he has 15 open investigations working on the issue.
"Between the Sheriff's department and Alexander police department. We will take care of the citizens of Alexander," said Walters.
The Sheriff's department and police plan to up patrol in the area to help deter any criminal activity.
Charges:
John Hayes, 51, Alexander – 2 counts of attempted Capital murder, Possession of firearm by certain person. $150,000 bond. Bonded out.
Jason Hartcourt, 32, Little Rock – Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to distribute greater than 10 grams, more charges forthcoming. In custody.
Joshua Green, 32, Little Rock – 2 counts attempted Capital Murder, tampering with evidence (Class D), Hindering Apprehension (Class D). $100,000 bond. Still in custody.
Jamar "Little Baby" Williams, 25, Little Rock – 2 counts attempted Capital murder, Possession of a firearm by a certain person. $100,000 bond. Still in custody.
