KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: Foul Play with Arkansas Hay

Foul Play with Arkansas Hay

Posted: Updated:
Vilonia -

It has been ten months since a tornado claimed four lives and many more homes in Vilonia's Black Oak Ranch Estates subdivision.

Now it appears one of the victims is victimizing someone else.

If there wasn't a small sign on a fence along Chippewa Trail you wouldn't know you were driving past Buffalo Creek Ranch Horse Rescue.

On the back of the property you will find the home of Teressa Joyner.

It is a new structure as her previous home was destroyed by a tornado April 25th.

What you won't see anywhere nearby is hay…which is odd only because Joyner has been marketing her ranch as a producer of hay to Texas farmers desperate for hay.

"It was junk," says Texas farmer Mike Dominy. "Every time I got something…I wouldn't let a dog lay down on what I got.  The cows wouldn't eat it.  The first load was rotten…full of sticks.  Just terrible."

Dominy says he paid Joyner about $13,000 for 366 bales of hay.

He says he got half, and as you heard the hay was not good.  Even so…he only wants a refund for the half he never received.

Dominy says he learned about Teressa Joyner and Buffalo Creek Ranch by finding her listed along with other Arkansas hay sellers on the Texas Department of Agriculture's web site.

"I'm pretty upset about that," says Dominy.  "You would think that the government would look out for people that are trying to use their web site and screen the people that they allow to advertise on there."

Teressa Joyner was not home when we visited and we don't have a good phone number for her.

If you know where she is or have any other information about her, please let us know.
