4 Years Later, New Search in John Glasgow Case

Posted: Updated:

The Glasgow family hoped for closure while authorities searched local farm land Thursday in connection to the disappearance of their loved one, Little Rock businessman John Glasgow.

This comes after John's brother, Roger Glasgow, said an inmate at the Faulkner County Jail, John Brawner, told police he knew where his brother is buried.

The Conway County Sheriff's Department's Mike Smith said Brawner is behind bars for attempted kidnapping.  He's also facing a robbery conviction from the Faulkner Co. Sheriff's Dept.

Little Rock police's Lt. Terry Hastings refused to comment and said it was an open investigation, but a detective at the crime scene confirmed they were searching the Lonoke/Pulaski County line for the John Glasgow case.

"It's the not knowing that's the worst part of this," said Roger Glasgow. He continued, "I think they're trying to do a more sophisticated search using some kind of equipment that I understand to be a sort of sonar device."

The National Guard and Little Rock police were at the search just before 1pm with the sonar devices in a bean field.

John Glasgow disappeared back in January of 2008 after leaving his Little Rock home.  Lonoke. Residents near the bean field say authorities searched this farm land a few months ago.  Roger said it was without the sonar equipment and police didn't find anything.

Roger said the family is hoping for closure and for authorities to bring the person responsible to justice.

"It's something you think about everyday and that's the truth and I've talked to other members of my family and they think about it everyday," Roger said.  "It's just like a sore place in your heart that never heals."

That's why Roger hopes Brawner's tip is credible.  He says Brawner passed a polygraph with the information.

Roger said he can't think of any reason someone would want to kill his brother.

"John had no enemies that I've ever known of," said Roger.

Authorities searched for about 3 hours today.  They say it will continue Friday morning.
