The Tulsa 66ers are used to having players called up to the NBA. But now, they've lost their coach to the big leagues.
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Monday they have hired Nate Tibbetts to serve as an assistant on the staff of head coach Byron Scott.
Dale Osbourne has been promoted to head coach of the 66ers, who are off to a 4-and-1 start in the D-League this season.
In two full seasons as Tulsa's head coach, Tibbetts was 60-and-40 and took the 66ers to the playoffs both seasons, including an appearance in the 2010 D-League Finals.
Tibbetts also served as head coach of Team USA during the recent 2011 Pan American Games, leading the team to the bronze medal, the first medal for the U.S. since 1999.
