KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: New Wheelchair, Ramp for Viewer

New Wheelchair, Ramp for Viewer

Posted: Updated:
Little Rock -

Five weeks ago Richard Moore was seriously depressed.  Confined to an old wheelchair, Moore was also confined to his home…with no ramps to help him leave if necessary.

Things are much better now.

Richard Moore has a new outlook on life…from the seat of his new motorized wheelchair.

The chair is a definite upgrade, but his real problem was the lack of a ramp to get down the steps that lead up to every doorway of his home.

We shared Richard's situation with our viewers back on October 25th and now Richard has a new, portable ramp thanks to an anonymous donor…one of many who called and offered to help the Moores.

"He's happy," says wife Josie.  "He really is. And whoever…who donated us that ramp we really appreciate it. We really do. He can do what he wants to now. As soon as he gets well I'm puttin' him out. All the way out (laughs)."

"I appreciate everything Channel 7 doing to help me…and people out there who are looking at me…I'm proud of, and thank you very much. I thank you…I thank the world for helping me," says a grateful Richard.  "Because y'all god sent.  Angels from Heaven."

Josie says Richard is still very cautious using his new electric wheelchair.

And a new hand rail will be added off his front porch to give him a safer way to leave the house using his portable ramp.  Thanks from the Moores and from us to all of you who were willing to help…in the Spirit of Arkansas.
