University of Tulsa men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik announced Monday that sophomore Donte Medder has left the team and is planning to transfer.
Medder was averaging six minutes of playing time through seven games this season for the Golden Hurricane, which is 4-and-3. The 6'2" point guard from Phoenix had received a medical redshirt after suffering two knee injuries within a nine-month period.
"I am very disappointed that Donte has made the decision to leave our basketball program after only seven games in his attempt to come back following two ACL injuries," said Wojcik. "Despite the progress Donte has made in his return from injury, his playing time has not met his expectations with the two other point guards on our roster."
Prior to the injuries, Medder had played in 34 games as a true freshman, averaging five points, one assist and just under one rebound per game.
Tulsa plays its next game Wednesday night at Oklahoma State.
