Patches to Be Worn By OSU Basketball Teams

Posted: Updated:

The healing process begins at Oklahoma State University. This follows a deadly plane crash in central Arkansas. Women's Head basketball Coach Kurt Budke and Assistant Coach Miranda Serna were killed along with a former State Senator Olin Branstetter and his wife, Paula.

Dupree sports has been in Stillwater 45 years now they are stepping up along with the athletic department to remember the fallen. It was a day that no one wanted
but once it happened. They had to step up and do what they know best.

"It's one of those days where you are just full of emotion. Everything is going through your head, but it's one of those deals where at the same time, you need to take a step back and this needs to get done," says Assistant Equipment Manager of Olympic Sports, Kyle Briggs.

How they are remembering is by putting a four patch on every jersey. They hope this will remind everyone they have a few people looking out for them.

"Every time we step on the court, we know those four people are going to be with those athletes, on the court, and it's something as Oklahoma State, that we need to do, and want to do," says Briggs.

Dupree sports will be the ones that get this project done by Monday and they say they wouldn't have it any other way.

"Something of this magnitude was fast, and I think most of all, it goes out to all the care, and all the love for Oklahoma State and what has happened. So, that we could turn it around quickly," says Manager, Derrick Sinclair.

They say this isn't the first time they have been through this. Ten years ago they had to do the same. This time employees have given up time with their families to help.
But they don't mind, it's all for the Oklahoma State family and making sure the four are not forgotten.

"I would hope, that when the Cowgirls take the court next, that there is not an empty seat in the house. They deserve it, just as much as the Cowboy nation deserves to all pull together and remember the four," says Sinclair.

The patches will be on the men's basketball jersey's as they travel to the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York next week.
