Memorial Service Monday at 1 p.m.

Posted: Updated:

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Stillwater to remember the victims of Thursday's plane crash that killed women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon in a wooded area 30 miles northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas. Also killed in the crash were pilot Olin Branstetter and his wife, Paula.

The Branstetters were OSU alumni and avid supporters.

Budke had been head coach at OSU for the past seven seasons, compiling a 119-and-76 record. Serna had been an assistant on his staff for ten seasons, including three at Louisiana Tech.

Officials say a memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The service is open to the public.

Classes at OSU Monday between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. are being canceled so that the Stillwater community, students and faculty can attend or view the service.

Governor Mary Fallin has also ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half staff Monday to remember the victims.
