Governor: Shocked And Saddened By Plane Crash

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, an Oklahoma State University alumnus, says she and all Oklahomans are shocked and saddened by the tragic plane crash that killed OSU women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna.

Budke and Serna were on a recruiting trip to Arkansas when the plane they were passengers in crashed in a heavily wooded area 30 miles outside of Little Rock. Two others -- former State Senator Olin Branstetter and his wife, Paula -- also died.

"In addition to working to reshape the OSU women's basketball program into a top 10 contender, both coaches were mentors and role models to countless young women," Fallin said. "They will be remembered as great coaches and great people who made all of Oklahoma proud."

"I am asking all Oklahomans to keep the OSU community, the women's basketball team, and the family and many friends of Coach Budke and Coach Serna in our thoughts and prayers as they deal with this terrible tragedy."
