Noodle Kugel is a Jewish Casserole usually served during the holidays. It can either be a dessert dish or a savory side dish. They both start off with the same ingredients, you just add a sweetener (sugar or honey, and fruit and cinnamon ) to turn to dish into a dessert. We will be doing both today.

 

16 ounces of egg noodles, cooked as directed on the package. Drain as set aside.

 

Mix together in a large bowl:

6 ounces cream cheese

2 cup sour cream

2 cups cottage cheese

4 eggs

1/2 cup butter, melted

salt and pepper

 

You would mix your noodles in with your cheese mixture, pour into a greased baking dish and cook uncovered at 350 for about 45 minutes. If you wanted to add vegetables(broccoli, carrots, mushrooms etc) to the dish you would want to add them before baking. Be sure to saute the vegetables before adding them to your Kugel.

 

If you wanted to make this into a sweet dessert dish, you would want to add the following ingredients to the cheese mixture before mixing it with the noodles.( Be sure to omit the pepper):

 

1 cup sugar

1 cup raisins

1 tablespoons cinnamon

 

sprinkle the dish with cinnamon and sugar before baking to give a nice look to the dish. Cook the same as above.
