Last season, Tulsa was 3-and-3 through six games before ripping off seven straight victories and this year's team is hoping for a repeat performance.
The Golden Hurricane had the most difficult schedule of any team in the country in September, playing top ten programs Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Boise State.
The team has won three straight to improve to 4-and-3 and are a perfect 3-and-0 in Conference USA play. Now, they're trying to keep pace with an undefeated Houston team as they prepare for Homecoming against Southern Methodist.
SMU had won five straight games since losing to Texas A&M in the season opener, but suffered a 27-3 setback at Southern Miss Saturday. The Mustangs are 5-and-2 overall and 3-1 in the CUSA West Division.
Last year, SMU came away with a 21-18 victory over the Golden Hurricane in Dallas and the Ponies have won six of the last ten in the series. Eight of those games have been decided by ten points or less, including six by a touchdown or less.
Saturday's game begins at 2:30 p.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
