
The struggling US economy has caused the nation's wealth gap to widen.
Black and Hispanic households are doing much worse than white households, according to 2009 data from the Pew Research Center.
The median wealth of white households was 20 times higher than black households and 18 times higher than Hispanic households.
Household wealth is defined as the sum of a family's assets, such as homes, cars and savings... minus the sum of its debts.
The data shows the wealth gap at its widest since these records were kept starting in 1984.
