KATV Channel 7 - The Spirit of Arkansas: Diamond Hogs To Play In Houston Classic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The six-team field for the 2012 Houston College Classic, held at the Houston Astros' Minute Maid Park in Houston has been announced.

Joining Arkansas in the early season tournament will be fellow Southeastern Conference team Tennessee, along with Houston, Rice, Texas and Texas Tech. Pairings for the tournament, which will feature a nine-game round robin format, will be announced at a later date.

Considered one of the top early season events in college baseball, the 2012 Houston College Classic will again include a strong field. The Razorbacks will be making their first appearance in the tournament. Three of the six teams in the field advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament, with Texas reaching the College World Series.
