Man charged in Forrest City stabbing; victim critical

Posted: Updated:

The Forrest City Police Department arrested a 21-year-old man Monday night following a stabbing at a local apartment complex.

According to a police report, officers were called to the Pecan Grove apartments just after 11 p.m. after 20-year-old Rachel Bascue, 1905 N. Washington, Apt. 11, told dispatchers that her boyfriend, Anthony Anderson, 19, had been stabbed by her ex-boyfriend Justin Day, 21, 835 Park Dr., Forrest City. When officers arrived at the complex, they found Anderson bleeding from several wounds. Police said Anderson had been stabbed in the neck and the left temple area and also suffered stab wounds to his stomach. Anderson was flown to the Med in Memphis where he was listed in critical condition this morning.

After emergency officials began treating Anderson, officers spoke with Bascue in a nearby parking lot, and she told them that Day was still at the scene waiting for police to arrive. Day was taken into custody without incident.

Day is charged with aggravated residential burglary, first-degree battery and criminal mischief. He is currently being held in the St. Francis County Jail. No bond amount had been set as of this morning, and Day is scheduled to appear in St. Francis County District Court on Wednesday, June 15, at 9 a.m.
