Lyon College Opens Temporary Dining Hall

Posted: Updated:

(KATV) Batesville - On October 26, 2010 the Edwards Commons Building on the Lyon College campus caught fire. A dining hall was created in the Becknell Gymnasium, but the new temporary dining facility is open for business and can seat approximately 270 people.

The temporary dining hall will be used until a new student center with dining hall can be built. Architects have met with Lyon administration, faculty, staff and students and are working on a design for the building.

The dining hall is currently feeding students on campus for Upward Bound Math-Science, APPLE and sports camps.

On June 3, students on campus for orientation and registration ate lunch in the renovated facility.

A kitchen is also being built in part of the building. That project is expected to be complete in August. Dining services workers are currently using a mobile kitchen near the new dining hall to prepare food.
