Salem Man Drowns in Deer Run Park Lake

(KATV) Twenty-one year old Justin Roberts of Salem drowned in Sharp County while swimming at Deer Run Park.

According to the Sharp County Sheriff's Department, on May 28, Roberts was swimming across the lake with a friend when he began to have problems and went under approximately 40-feet from shore.

Deputies received the call at about 4:18. Roberts was found by a Sidney firefighter/diver in about 16 feet of water, they loaded him on a rescue boat. Emergency personnel felt a pulse and began CPR.

Roberts was transported to White River Medical Center and placed in ICU where he passed away at about 10:23 p.m.

Roberts was a newlywed, his wife is pregnant with their first child.
