Another Mistrial Declared For Gary Dunn

Posted: Updated:

After two days of deliberations, a Johnson County jury has deadlocked in the capital murder trial of Gary Dunn.

The jury resumed deliberations Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. At 8:00 p.m. that night, jurors returned to the courtroom and told the judge they were split 8-4.

Dunn is accused of killing Nona Dirksmeyer in 2005.

While prosecuting attorneys tried to persuade jurors that Dunn is the real killer, defense attorney Bill James, tried to persuade jurors that Kevin Jones is the real killer. Jones was acquitted in this case 2007.

Dunn's first trial also ended in a mistrial in 2008. Prosecutors say they plan to try the case third time.
