Saturday Academy offered for HS Math/Science Teachers, students

 

Pine Bluff- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will host a Saturday Academy for high school Math and Science teachers through the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Academy.

Each high school can nominate two teachers from Science and Math areas to participate. Each teacher is required to bring a maximum of five (5) students with them. Participating teachers will be provided a $100.00 stipend for each faculty development day for a total of $400.00.  Participating students will receive a stipend of up to $100.00 in total for attending the Saturday Academy.

 

Area high school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the Academy. Interested students should contact their mathematics and science departments to register.

 

The Academy will be held on the following dates from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room 107 of Caine-Gilleland Hall: February 19; March 5; March 12 and April 2.

 

Registration must be completed before Monday, January 31 at 5:00 p.m. Interested applicants can contact Donna R. The UAPB STEM Academy is a federally funded program designed to increase the number of minorities and women choosing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics careers.
