Police Arrest Teens in Robbery at Forrest City Business

Posted: Updated:

A pair of Forrest City teenagers may spend Christmas at the St. Francis County Jail after their arrest in an early morning aggravated robbery in the Walmart parking lot.

According to a press release, Larry Derrick, 48, of Forrest City, was loading groceries into  his vehicle with his children in the parking lot at Walmart when two males, one armed with a black pistol approached them at about 12:20 a.m. A report on file with the police department said that one of the men grabbed Derrick around his stomach and told him to "Give it up."

Derrick told officers that he turned around and saw that the subject had a gun pointed in his face. He also told officers that a second man then ran over to the first.

Derrick reported that the man with the gun asked him several times, "Do you think I'm playing?" The press release said that Derrick knocked the gun out of the man's hand and the two men fled from the scene on foot.

Jason Robinson, 18, 725 Walker, Forrest City, and Steve Clarke, 18, 306 Happy Hollow, were taken into custody shortly after the incident when officers patroling near South Washington spotted one of the men matching the description given by Derrick as he ran in the area near Leake's Quick Stop.

The report said that the men got into a silver SUV which was then stopped by officers.

Robinson and Clark are charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and  are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 30. They are currently being held in the St. Francis County Jail and no bond has been set.
