Posted: Updated:

TOPS or Take Off Pounds Sensibly is a nonprofit weight-loss support organization that encourages weight loss maintenance through mutual support of sensible eating, exercise, and wellness education. Anyone can join the organization, including males and females of practically any age. It costs $26 a year, plus nominal chapter fees to cover operating costs which are usually less than $5 per month.

Lisa Vorwerk lost more than 120 pounds and has kept the weight off for more than a year. "I weighed 270 pounds and I could hardly walk to the mailbox. I was just completely out of breath all the time," Vorwerk remembers about her former body. "Now I'm running races, out there competing. It's just a totally different feeling to actually have your life back when you get the weight off."

Vorwerk says the program has not only changed her life, but also the lives of many other TOPS members as well. Vorwerk if the first-place-winner in the TOPS women's greatest improvement contest in 2009. You can read more of her story and other by logging on to TOP's website or by calling 1-800-932-8677 for more information.
