The Oklahoma City Thunder have assigned rookie big man Cole Aldrich to their D-League affiliate Tulsa 66ers, the team announced today.
Aldrich has played in five games this season for the Thunder, averaging 1.0 points and 2.2 rebounds while playing an average of 9.6 minutes per game.
Aldrich was brought to the Thunder in a draft-day trade with the New Orleans Hornets, who selected the 6'11", 245-pound center with the eleventh overall pick.
Aldrich was a standout at Kansas last year and was a member of the Jayhawks' 2008 national championship team.
In three seasons in Lawrence, Aldrich averaged 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and broke the school's all-time record for blocked shots, swatting 125 in 111 games.
Aldrich will be available for the 66ers' home opener against the Iowa Energy on Friday. Tulsa is 1-and-1 after splitting a pair of games in Bakersfield last week.
