Chad Costello's second period goal gave the Tulsa Oilers a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the visiting Wichita Thunder Friday night in the season opener at the BOK Center.
The Oilers fell behind 2-0 in the first period after a pair of goals from Jesse Bennefield. But, Harrison Reed scored two goals of his own later in the first to pull the Oilers even.
Wichita's Bobby Hughes put the Thunder on top again just 39 seconds into the second period on a powerplay goal. But, Michael Beausoleil knotted the score at the midway point of the second with a shorthanded goal.
Costello's goal came on the powerplay nine minutes later.
Neither team was able to dent the scoreboard in the third period.
Tulsa won despite being outshot 27-21. The Oilers were 2-for-5 on powerplay opportunities compared to just 1-of-8 for the Thunder.
Trevor Cann spent all 60 minutes in goal for the Oilers and stopped 24 of 27 shots.
The same two teams play again Saturday evening, this time in Wichita at 7:05 p.m.
