Arkansas power forward Marshawn Powell will miss seven to eight weeks after suffering a broken bone in his left foot, the school announced Tuesday.

The 6'7" sophomore suffered the injury in a pickup basketball game in his hometown of Newport News, Virginia. Luckily, he won't need surgery to repair the injury and despite missing nearly two months, he could return before the beginning of fall practices on October 15th.

This is the second time he's suffered an injury prior to the start of the season. Last year, he broke his non-shooting hand in a pickup game, but was able to return before practices began.

"Marshawn is a big part of our program," Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey said. "We are looking forward to him being as good as he was a year ago.  Injuries are a part of the game and he suffered this while playing. We have the best staff in the country to help him return to the court and I don't anticipate this affecting his season."

Powell led the Hogs in rebounding last season, grabbing 6.7 boards per game. He was also third in scoring at 14.9 points per contest.
