A car accident outside of Sherwood has left one teenager dead and three others in the hospital.
According to North Little Rock police, Destiny Nowlin, 14, of North Little Rock was pronounced dead at the scene on Batesville Pike Road. She was one of the five victims that all range from 14 to 24 years of age.
Sgt. Terry Kuykendall said, "This road is known for its sharp curves and turns--and this afternoon, it proved just how dangerous it can be."
Kuykendall added, "It appears the car was traveling southbound on Batesville Pike, and for some reason it left the roadway, skidded sideways and struck a culvert. After leaving the roadway, the car came to rest along a fence."
Authorities say three of the victims were transported to area hospitals where they are being treated for their injuries. One walked away unharmed.
Kuykendall said, "This is one of those times of the year kids are getting ready to go back to school lots of excitement in the air-- getting ready to go to college-- and to have a life cut short affects everyone."
Police say at this time they have no reason to believe alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident. They are not sure yet if seatbelts were being used.
