Quitman Man Dies in House Explosion

Fire officials say they suspect a leaky gas heater caused Monday night's explosion at the home of 90-year-old Lawrence Hamilton of Quitman.
It took firefighters more than an hour to put out the blaze before they found Hamilton's body. Hamilton lived alone but was well-known in the small town of about 700 residents, and had had dinner with the mayor the evening of the accident.
