Foster kids in Pulaski County got a special Christmas treat Sunday afternoon. The Gene Cauley Foundation hosted its Second Annual Christmas Wishes Party.
This event was definitely geared towards the kids but it was also for all the foster and adoptive parents in Pulaski County.
(Tracey Jeffries, Adoptive Parent) "The kids get to get out and be just children you know and they get to be together in a family environment. And he has got so much stuff set out here for them to have fun. They don't have anything to worry about. Just a day of fun."
Tracey Jeffries started out as a single foster parent. But now she's adopted 6-year-old Ty-miyah and 11-year-old Latalia. Her oldest says she knows she's lucky--and made this plea to parents who may be considering to adopt.
(Jeffries) "They need to consider adopting because so many children need toys, food, and a family to stay with. Some children don't even have a family. Some children need one."
Finding homes for all of these foster kids--that's exactly what the Gene Cauley Foundation says they're trying to do with this Annual Christmas Wish party.
(Sylvester Smith, Gene Cauley) "We also want to raise awareness that these children have needs, they're in they system--come in and adopt these children."
There's roughly 800 children in foster care looking to be adopted.
