If you're shipping gifts to loved ones this holiday season, there are a few dates you need to be aware of to make sure your packages make it to their destinations on time. Next Monday is the busiest mailing day of the year nationwide, but lines at area postal facilities are already starting to get longer. If you still haven't shipped, here are some dates you may want to know:
--If you're sending a package parcel post--the lowest priority--it has to be in the mail by December 15th.

--Letters and cards must be sent off by December 20th, as does priority mail.
--Express mail will make it to its destination if sent by December 22nd.
Lisa Gay with the United States Postal Service says you can avoid lines by staying away at peak times.
(Lisa Gay, United States Postal Service) "The best time would be any time other than before work, at lunch, or after work."Officials say you can also overnight packages until Christmas Eve, as packages will be delivered on Christmas.
